Kallikratis Gorge is relatively small and is located in the south-eastern area of the White Mountains in the prefecture of Chania and is part of the European path E4. After the middle of the distance and following the stone-built path, in some places, the view to the Libyan Sea and the plain of Frangokastelou is enchanting.
The entrance of the gorge is located on the plateau of Kallikratis, where you can reach by driving on asphalted streets from Askifou, Asi Gonia or Frangokastello. The Kallikratis Gorge is relatively small, and about 3,5 hours of hiking from north to south are required. The vegetation of the gorge is low and consists of shrubs and sage.
Wander to the almost deserted village of Kallikratis with the picturesque temple of Virgin Mary and start descending the gorge that ends between the villages of Patsianos and Kapsodasos, 8 km away from Hora Sfakion.
