Marathi area is located 17 km from the city of Chania. It has two small sandy beaches separated by a small harbor and its pier. Because of the southern orientation of the area is difficult to find by winds. The beaches are well organized, with blue sea waters and all the necessary amenities are within easy reach.
The western part of the beach, where there are large pebbles, is called the Sosorides. It is a particularly desirable place for those seeking tranquility and isolation.
Just 500 meters from the beach of Marathi is the small island of Marathi. There you can go swimming and find coolness in the pine forest.
Continuing your drive on the main road, northeast, you will meet the ruins of the Roman Ancient Minoa, which is rumored to be the port of Aptera. You will encounter ancient baths and buildings. On the beach, there is still a section of the semicircular wall that once dwelled by the sea.
