The Museum of Modern Art is located in the Dromonero area and is housed in an old Olive Oil Mill. The building was constructed in the 1920s and consists of the main building core and subsequent wings.
The oil mill had Greek-made equipment since the early 1960s, which has been preserved as a memorial to the site’s original operations after the oil mill closed in 1980.
At the Museum of Modern Art, you will admire paintings, sculpture, engraving, ceramics, photography, constructions, installations and cinema and video films.
The purpose of the museum is to preserve, conserve, and present its collection, which was created by the generous offer of artwork by their creators, but also by sponsors, collectors, municipalities and members of the Friends of the Olive Oil Club.
The museum organizes educational programs and informative workshops.
Dromonero area is located in the 33rd kilometer of Chania-Paleochora.
