The Museum of School Life is located in the village of Nerokourou, 3.5 kilometers from Chania. The Museum is housed in the old elementary school of the village.
The Museum was founded in 2006 on the initiative of the Region of Chania and its first exhibition was entitled “Come to enliven the wooden boards”. The school’s collection consists of books, notebooks, rulers, desks, chairs, notepads, tables, bags and other objects of earlier times.
The main purpose of the School Life Museum is to revitalize the school’s past in all periods of Cretan history, to analyze and record data, and to link the past with modern educational reality and ways of teaching. Students and teachers are the main recipients and at the same time active part of the museum activity.
